Tracked mulcher working through an open hardwood stand

Forestry mulching that leaves the ground covered

One machine cuts, grinds and spreads. Our tracked skid steer mulcher turns yaupon thickets, privet and sapling stands into a layer of mulch on the spot, so the soil stays put and the land is usable the same day.

What a forestry mulcher actually does

A forestry mulcher is a spinning drum lined with steel teeth, mounted on the front of a tracked skid steer. The operator walks it into the brush and the drum shreds standing growth from the top down, leaving the chips spread across the ground behind it.

Because nothing is pushed, piled or dragged, there is no root ball pulled up, no topsoil scraped into a windrow, and no burn pile waiting for a burn ban to lift. The trees you keep never get bumped by a blade.

  • Yaupon, privet, sweetgum and tallow thickets
  • Saplings and small trees in overgrown pasture
  • Greenbrier, vine tangles and blowdown
  • Fence lines, easements, trails, shooting lanes and food plot edges

Why mulch instead of push and burn

Topsoil stays putEast Texas sandy loam is thin and it moves. Mulching leaves it covered instead of scraped into a pile.
No burn pileDebris becomes mulch on the day of the job. Nothing to light, nothing to haul.
Selective by designThe operator picks around the pines and oaks you want. A blade cannot be that careful.
Usable same dayWalk it, drive it, mow it. No ruts full of root balls to fill afterward.

Keep it open once it is cleared

Yaupon and privet come back from the roots. Land that is mulched once and left alone will be thick again in a few seasons. A follow up pass on a schedule keeps regrowth small, which keeps each visit quick.

  • Follow up mulching passes on cleared ground
  • Fence lines, easements and lanes kept open year to year
  • Hunting property trails and openings refreshed before season

Forestry mulching questions

How much does forestry mulching cost?

Mulching is priced on how dense the growth is, how big the stems are, the ground and the access. We quote each property separately. Send photos and a pin to (903) 952-9217 and we will give you an honest number.

Will the brush grow back?

Some will. Yaupon, privet and sweetgum resprout from the roots. Mowing or a follow up mulching pass keeps it from taking over again, and each pass gets quicker.

How long does the mulch last?

In East Texas heat and rain, fine mulch breaks down over a couple of seasons. Heavier chips from larger stems last longer. Either way it feeds the soil as it goes.

Can you mulch when it is wet?

Tracks help, but sandy ground over clay can still rut after a hard rain. We will move a date rather than tear up your property.

Will grass grow back after mulching?

Where sunlight reaches the ground, grass usually comes back through a normal mulch layer. Very heavy mulch can slow it down for a season.

Can you quote from photos?

Usually, yes. A few clear shots of the thickest growth, the gate, and a map pin are often enough. If we need to walk it first, we will tell you.
