Pines left standing over freshly mulched red ground

East Texas land clearing without the burn pile

We clear overgrown East Texas acreage with a tracked skid steer forestry mulcher. Brush, vines and small trees get ground into mulch right where they stood, the trees you want stay standing, and you are left with ground you can walk, mow and build on.

Selective clearing, one pass, debris left as mulch

Most East Texas acreage is not a blank field waiting for a dozer. It is a stand of pine and oak worth keeping, choked underneath with yaupon, privet, sweetgum sprouts, greenbrier and blown down limbs. Pushing all of that into windrows and burning it leaves bare dirt that washes.

Our approach is different. A forestry mulcher head on a tracked skid steer chews the unwanted growth down into a mulch layer that stays on the ground. That layer holds sandy soil in place, keeps moisture in, and breaks down over the next couple of seasons.

  • Underbrush and thicket removal under standing timber
  • Homesite, driveway and building pad clearing
  • Large acreage clearing
  • Fence lines and easements
  • Pasture recovery where brush has taken over
  • Hunting land: lanes, food plot openings and trails
  • Municipal and commercial lots

How a land clearing job runs

Five steps, and you know what you are getting at each one.

1

Send photos

Text a few pictures and a pin. Tell us what the land is for.

2

Walk or review

We look at access, growth and slope, in person or from your photos.

3

Mark keepers

Flag the trees you want. We clear around them, not through them.

4

Mulch it

The machine grinds brush and small trees in place. No piles, no burning.

5

Walk it with you

We go over the finished ground together before we load out.

East Texas brush is its own animal

The growth changes as you move across the region, and so does the clearing.

Piney Woods

Loblolly and shortleaf pine over yaupon, privet and sweetgum. The pines are usually why you bought the place, so the work is opening the understory without scarring them.

Post Oak Savannah

Post oak and blackjack on sandy loam, with greenbrier and yaupon filling every gap. The sand mulches fast but ruts when wet, so we time jobs around the weather.

Creek and lake bottoms

Chinese tallow, privet and vine tangles along the drainages. Wet ground and floodplain rules both matter here, and we tell you what we see before we start.

What land clearing costs depends on four things

Every property is different, so we quote each job on its own. These are the factors that move the number.

Density

Scattered brush under open pines goes far faster than a solid yaupon wall you cannot see into.

Tree size

Sprouts and saplings mulch quickly. Larger trees take more machine time each, and some are better left standing.

Ground and slope

Firm, gentle ground is quickest. Wet bottoms, steep banks and buried debris slow the machine down.

Access

A wide gate and a dry road in keeps it simple. Tight gates, soft lanes and lake lots with no turnaround add time.

What a skid steer mulcher is right for

A tracked skid steer with a mulching head is the best tool we know of for opening up brushy, wooded East Texas land without tearing it up. It is light on the ground, fits through a farm gate, and leaves the soil covered.

It is not the answer to everything. Big timber, stumps that need to come out below grade for a slab, or material that has to be hauled away are different jobs. If your project needs any of that, tell us when you call and we will tell you plainly whether it is something we handle.

Land clearing questions

How much does land clearing cost in East Texas?

It depends on how thick the brush is, the size of the trees, the ground and the access. Rather than guess at a number online, we quote each property. Text a few photos and a pin to (903) 952-9217 for a straight estimate.

What happens to all the brush and trees?

The mulcher grinds it into mulch that stays on the ground. There are no burn piles and nothing to haul. The mulch layer protects the soil and breaks down over time.

Can you save the good trees?

Yes. That is one of the main reasons to clear with a mulcher. Flag the trees you want to keep, or walk the property with Trevor, and we clear around them.

How long does a land clearing job take?

A small homesite or lane can be a single day. Larger acreage with thick yaupon takes longer. We give you a day count with the estimate so you can plan around it.

Can you quote from photos?

Usually, yes. Clear photos of the thickest areas, a shot of the gate or access, and a map pin are often enough for a solid estimate. If we need to see it in person, we will say so.

Do I need a permit to clear my land?

Rural acreage in the county often needs nothing. Land inside city limits, in a floodplain, or on a lake can be different. We flag exactly what applies to your property when we quote.
